Information Publication Plan (IPP)
The IPP describes how the DFRT implements and administers the IPS with regard to its information holdings.
Our reports and responses to Parliament
While the DFRT is not required to prepare an annual report under the terms of the Defence Act 1903, the Tribunal President presents an Annual Report for tabling in Parliament each financial reporting period in keeping with the recommendations of the Coates Committee Report of 1993.
Each report details the activities of the Tribunal for the relevant financial reporting period, including:
- the membership and the work of the Tribunal, and
- details of matters considered, inspections, visits, changes to governing legislation (if any) and FOI requests.
Past annual reports can be downloaded from the About page of this website.
Routinely requested information and disclosure log
The DFRT is required under the FOI Act to publish a disclosure log on its website. The disclosure log lists information which has been released in response to an FOI access request.
Consultation arrangements
The DFRT has a commitment to consider all submissions from the ADF, the Commonwealth (represented by the Australian Public Service Commission), the Returned and Services League of Australia, the Defence Force Welfare Association, as well as other interested parties, on issues before the Tribunal.
As part of its statutory obligation to inform itself on ADF matters, the Tribunal undertakes visits to ADF units, establishments and ships. These visits generally include open forums with ADF members at all rank levels and, on occasions, with spouses. Usually the meetings are informal and include a short explanation of the role and function of the Tribunal, followed by a discussion period in which ADF personnel and spouses have the opportunity to raise issues or ask questions.
Our finances
The DFRT's financial requirements are met through the Australian Public Service Commission.
